FALL THEATER CLASSES

Dancing with Ms. Dawn!

  • (ages 4-6) 8 sessions
  • Monday 4:00-5:00 September 9, 16, 23, 30, 
  • October 7, 14 (No Class), 21, 28, Nov 4.
  • Instructor – Dawn Warga

No matter your dance experience, this class will build confidence in young dancers while developing fundamental dance skills and choreography techniques.  The class will include “musical theater dance” as well as classic and modern styles.  Students will become comfortable with body movement and expression which will prepare them for working with a cast on the stage or for carrying themselves through personal life experiences. Students will explore their artistic spirit and improve strategies for preparing for auditions and performing in shows.  The class will culminate with a short performance. All levels of dance welcome! So get those toes wiggling, and come join us!

Dancing for the stage—and beyond!

  • (ages 7-12) 8 sessions
  • Monday 5:00-6:00 September 9, 16, 23, 30, 
  • October 7, 14 (No Class), 21, 28, Nov 4.

Experienced performers will refine and enhance their skills and become leaders on stage. Students will explore their artistic spirit and improve strategies for preparing for auditions and performing in shows.  The class will culminate with a short performance. You Can Dance (Again)!

  • (ages 18+) 8 sessions
  • Monday 6:00-7:00  September 9, 16, 23, 30, 
  • October 7, 14 (No Class), 21, 28, Nov 4.
  • Instructor – Dawn Warga

This class is intended for adults just beginning to dance, those returning back after a break from dance, or those who just love to dance!  Students will improve the dance skills needed for an audition or performance, or just for fun!  They will also explore repetitive and creative exercises to improve confidence with movement and body expression.  So don’t feel intimidated when the choreographer shows up…join the fun! All levels of dance welcome!

Intro to Musical Theatre for the Budding Performer!

  • (ages 5-9) MUST be in Kindergarten
  • Tuesday 4:30 – 5:30 September 10, 17, 24 October 1, 8, 15 (No Class), 22 & 29, November 5.

Calling all young actors and actresses to join our musical theatre class! Each week students will discover the theatre through acting, singing, dancing, and games! During these classes, students will engage in activities that will target: listening skills, creativity, memorization, imagination, and teamwork! Our budding performers will put on a mini-show at the end of the course.

 

Musical Theater I – For the Intermediate Performer Class!

  • (ages 8-14) 8 sessions
  • Tuesday 5:30 – 6:30 September 10, 17, 24 October 1, 8, 15 (No Class), 22 & 29, November 5.

Bring your imaginative young actors and actresses to join our musical theatre class! This class is perfect for those who have taken a class (Intro to Musical Theatre) with Anna before! Each week students will help the instructor create a fun filled show to perform for friends and family. Each class will encourage students to work with each other in creating this masterpiece, while of course playing some fun games involving theatre (acting, singing, and dancing).

 

Intro to Musical Theatre for the Budding Performer!

This class is perfect for those who have taken a class (Intro AND Musical Theater 1-2 Musical Theatre) with Anna before or have been in a production before! **Please consider this before signing up for this specific class** This class is designed for performers who are ready to work together create a fun filled show to perform for friends and family. Each class will encourage students to work with each other in creating this masterpiece, while of course playing some fun games involving theatre (acting, singing, and dancing).

Acting the Song

  • (ages 8-15) 8 sessions
  • Friday 4:30-5:30
  • September 13, 20, 27, October 4 (no class), October 11, 18 (no class), 25 (no class), Nov 1,  8, 15, 22
  • Instructor:  Sammi Fishkin

 As the student learns how to “Act the Song”, they will unlock the art of storytelling, creating a profound emotional connection with their audience. Students may choose their own song, or have the instructor help them choose. Each student will be given highly individualized attention as we workshop their piece.  One class day will be devoted to getting a new headshot.  Session will also culminate in a final performance for friends and family.

  

 Playwriting  

  • (ages 10- 16) 8 Sessions
  •  Friday 5:30 – 6:30
  • September 13, 20, 27, October 4 (no class), October 11, 18 (no class), 25(no class) , Nov 1,  8, 15, 22
  • Instructor:  Sammi Fishkin

In a very fun and supportive environment, this course focuses on developing material based on observation, adaptation, and imagination. Students will write their own scenes and have them be performed by their peers gaining feedback from their peers and the instructor. Students will practice exercises in characterization, plot, setting, dialogue, theme, metaphor and dramatic structure. At the end of the class, students can choose to select their favorite piece to put in the ending showcase. The writer may ask fellow class members or friends outside of class to perform as actors for their final work. If you took Playwriting I in the winter, this class can be repeated. 

 

The Actors Workshop

  • (ages 8-15) 8 sessions
  • Friday 6:30-7:30pm
  • September 13, 20, 27, October 4 (no class), October 11, 18 (no class), 25(no class) , Nov 1,  8, 15, 22
  • Instructor:  Sammi Fishkin

For the student who loves to act but doesn’t want to sing!  This class will improve your acting skills by learning techniques that will help in any type of production.  This class culminates in a 30 minute play at the end of the class for family and friends.  This year we will be doing a comedy that is sure to hone the students’ comedic skills as well as entertain everyone!
