SUMMARY:
Just in time for Halloween, Brundage
Park Playhouse revisits BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA.
When Brundage did the show three years
ago, it was wildly popular. So much so, we have decided to offer a
revival.
In 1890 Bram Stoker began writing notes
for a novel he planned to entitle "The Un-Dead". Seven years
later, the fruits of his labor transformed into his most famous
literary success, DRACULA.
Now, more than 100 years after the publication of Stoker's novel,
playwright Steven Dietz restores the suspense and seduction that is
missing from many versions of the tale. Dietz sticks closer to the
original, bringing a fresh look to this popular tale of horror without
sacrificing the lifeblood of the story.
Witness a society overtaken by an
unexpected darkness that strikes even the purest of hearts. Driven by
unwelcome fear, uncontrollable passion and unsolved mysteries that
even science can't explain, the characters voyage into the
unpredictable future to find answers. Rich with both humor and horror,
the play paints a wickedly theatrical picture of the famous vampire
who thrives on your fear.
As Professor Van Helsing states, we
have "a steadfast belief in science, a fierce reliance on faith
and the avid hope that there remains in us light enough to dispel the
darkness."
